SLEEP CONSULTATION

During a consultation appointment, your clinician will do a short physical exam and discuss the information you provided in a questionnaire completed before your appointment. Based on your symptoms and history, you and your clinician will develop a treatment plan to resolve your sleep complaints.

HOME SLEEP STUDIES

Home sleep apnea testing provides a board certified sleep medicine clinician with the information he or she needs to diagnose obstructive sleep apnea. It allows you to sleep at home wearing equipment that collects information about how you breathe during sleep.

OVERNIGHT SLEEP STUDIES

An in-lab sleep study provides a board-certified sleep medicine physician with the most complete evaluation of your sleep. You will be required to stay overnight at Precise Sleep Centers Sleep Lab, pictured above.
An in-lab sleep study, also known as a polysomnogram, records your brain waves, heartbeats and breathing as you sleep. It also charts your eye movements, limb movements and oxygen in your blood. This data will help your clinician make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan.

SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT

If you’re looking for quality Sleep Apnea Treatment, then Precise Sleep Diagnosis & Treatment Center is the Sleep Disorder Center for you. Our professional team is here to guide our patients and their families every step of the way.
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is the frontline treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. CPAP therapy keeps your airway open during the night by gently providing a constant stream of air through a mask you wear while you sleep. This eliminates the breathing pauses caused by sleep apnea, so you will no longer snore or make choking noises in your sleep. You will be able to sleep through the night without your body waking up from a lack of oxygen.
When you use CPAP each night, you will feel more alert during the daytime. Your mood may improve and you may have a better memory. CPAP prevents or even reverses serious health problems linked to sleep apnea such as heart disease and stroke. Your partner may even sleep better because you will stop snoring.

INSOMNIA TREATMENT

Insomnia is the most common sleep complaint. It occurs when you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep even though you had the opportunity to get a full night of sleep. The causes, symptoms and severity of insomnia vary from person to person. Insomnia may include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep

  • Difficulty staying asleep throughout the night

  • Waking up too early in the morning

MULTIPLE SLEEP LATENCY TEST

The MSLT is a test that consists of five scheduled naps separated by two-hour breaks. During each nap trial, you will lie quietly in bed and try to go to sleep. Once the lights go off, the test will measure how long it takes for you to fall asleep. You will be awakened after sleeping 15 minutes. If you do not fall asleep within 20 minutes, the nap trial will end.

MAINTENANCE OF WAKEFULNESS TESTING (MWT)

The Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) is used to measure how alert you are during the day. It shows whether or not you are able to stay awake for a defined period of time. This is an indicator of how well you are able to function and remain alert in quiet times of inactivity.
The test is based on the idea that your ability to stay awake may be more important to know in some cases than how fast you fall asleep. This is the case when the MWT is used to see how well a sleep disorders patient is able to stay awake after starting treatment. It is also used to help judge whether a patient is too tired to drive or perform other daily tasks.

SLEEP HYGIENE & COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

The term “sleep hygiene” refers to a series of healthy sleep habits that can improve your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep. These habits are a cornerstone of cognitive behavioral therapy, the most effective long-term treatment for people with chronic insomnia. CBT can help you address the thoughts and behaviors that prevent you from sleeping well. It also includes techniques for stress reduction, relaxation and sleep schedule management.
